One Year Ago

One year ago I was learning how to be a surgical assistant. These are some images taken during surgery lab.
Top left: opening the sterile scalpel blade and giving it to the sterile assistant (gloved hands)
Top right: the surgical pack, topped by towel clamps, gauze, and huck towels.
Bottom left: Surgery booties to keep dirt and hair from being tracked into the OR.
Bottom right: the many surgical instruments laid out according to use.

Mocha: Weimeraner Cross

"Often referred to as the "grey ghost" because of the distinctive color of its short, sleek coat, the Weimaraner is a graceful dog with aristocratic features. Bred for speed, good scenting ability, courage and intelligence, he remains an excellent game hunter and active participant in other dog sports." ~ AKC on Weimeraners

How long could you stand on such a tiny edge?

Sixpence Song

"Sing a song of sixpence a pocket full of rye,
Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie.
When the pie was opened the birds began to sing,
Oh wasn't that a dainty dish to set before the king?
The king was in his counting house counting out his money,
The queen was in the parlour eating bread and honey
The maid was in the garden hanging out the clothes,
When down came a blackbird and pecked off her nose!"

Blue Billed Duck

I don't know what genus/species this guy is, but he has a beautiful light blue bill. He was a lot smaller than the Mallard ducks.

Seeing Duplicates

Canadian Geese grooming themselves in the pond. It still amazes me how waterfowl can be in the water when it's nearly freezing outside!

Goose Lake

A beautiful Canadian Goose floating in the cold pond water at Randall Park. According to Wikipedia, Canada Geese are monogamous, meaning once they find a mate they stay with them for their entires lives. They are known for migrating in a "V" pattern.

The Lame Goose

At the park I feed ducks at there is a lovely goose couple. One of them has a lame foot, and her partner watches out for her and tries to help her get food before a younger and more agile duck grabs it.

The Lone Duck

Nope, it's not Daffy or Donald. There's a pond at a nearby park that has many many ducks living at it. I like to take bread down there and watch them flock over for a snack.
